On Tuesday 7th May, Glenfield College hosted the much-anticipated Cross Country race.
A large number of students competed in the event, held on the 3km (1 lap) or the Senior Championship 6km (2 laps) with a mix of tricky terrain and the daunting hill to start the race on the bottom fields. The weather was perfect, with the sun out during the entire event, which meant everyone only got drenched by sweat whilst running. There was some excellent running/racing and some outstanding results, as shared below.
Year 13 Shariff Abdullah (20:29) was the best of Senior Boys in the 6km race, his sister Year 11 Manahil Abdullah (27:09) time for the 6km Senior Girls ensured her first place, in the juniors Year 10 Henry Croft (9:52) was a standout time in the 3km race with Albie Fisher (10:58) & Rebecca Freestone (13:02) taking out the Year 9’s competition in their first Cross Country race at Glenfield College.
Big thank you to the P.E Department for all the organisation and preparatory work, to all student helpers and all staff for their involvement and help during the setup and conclusion of the event. Massive well done to the following staff for competing, Ms. O’Hara, Ms. Graham, Mr. Mckinley, Mr. Mason, Mr. Ju, Mr. Montreal, and Mr. Gardner.
