Over the weekend we had 4 players from Glenfield College representing the New Zealand Tag Blacks in the 2016 Tran Tasman series against Australia. The students were…
NZ u16 girls – Dayna Stevens
NZ u18 girls – Florida Fatanitavake, Rona Wharawhara, and Anzia Singe
The test series was best out of 5 tests. The NZ U16 girls won 2 tests while the Australians won 3 tests to take the Trans Tasman series. The final and deciding game went down to the wire. Dayna Stevens scored a try to bring the series back on even par, but unfortunately Australia pulled a try out to take the 5th and final game 3 – 4.
The U18 girls went in to the deciding 5th test confident that they would do well, but the Australians applied the pressure right from the start and saw them take the 5th test 7 – 3 to win the series. Congratulations to Anzia Singe who was selected for the All Stars team.
All 4 girls had amazing tournaments and represented their country with pride and passion. It was an excellent result for Dayna Stevens who was only introduced to tag in January this year.
