Year 12 student Kayley Balderstone has been selected for a Language Immersion Award with AFS (a commonly known exchange service/programme). This involves spending six months during 2017 in a French speaking country, living the language and experiencing French culture. “I’m so excited, it’s such an amazing opportunity. I barely got my application in, I did it in a week and submitted the forms two minutes before deadline!” She says. This scholarship allows for Kayley to travel on an exchange to France, Switzerland or Belgium- specific placement still to be confirmed. “I’m going to Europe next year. I can’t believe it.” The opportunity to apply became available through Careers Advisor Mr Tod, who noticed applications were closing and through French teacher Mrs Drabble advised the French class to apply. “I decided to go for it. If I got rejected at least I would have tried. After a long wait I was told I’d been selected! I can’t wait to see how this goes.” This will be a fantastic experience and we congratulate Kayley for her achievement.
