With the ‘Winter Season’ fast approaching, the Glenfield College Netball girls were given an extra boost of motivation from Mainland Tactix representative Erikana Pederson. Erikana, who hails from Auckland before making the move down to Canterbury, explained to the girls that Netball is a privilege to play and that attitude, hard work, and a good education are the foundations to her success. One key quote she learnt was that “you are only one injury away,” and you need to have an education to fall back on; “if you have that, you will always be successful.” After some engaging questions from our girls, including, “What was the transition like, moving from Auckland to Canterbury?” and “What it is like to play with NZ Rugby Sevens star Portia Woodman?”
They were then put through their paces with the Netball Smart warm-up mixed with a series of drills testing our girls agility and ball movement. A big thank you to Erikana for taking the session, and we hope the girls got a lot out of it. The netball season hits the road this week for our Juniors and Seniors; get down and support the girls.
