Glenfield College Running Club
Purpose: The Glenfield College Running Club was established to provide students with opportunities and skills to manage the stresses of daily life through physical activity. The concepts of te whare tapa whā provide the foundation and basis for this club.
Season Dates: Year-round
Training: Every Tuesday and Thursday, 3:30 pm–4:45 pm. Students meet in P1 and will run around the streets and trails of the local area. Students will receive route details each week in the shared Google Drive. Students are divided into packs based on their speed, each with a student pack leader. Routes will cover distances of 5km-10km. Students are encouraged to meet up with one another during the week/weekend for more running/walking expeditions.
Competitions: Students may choose to compete in events such as the North-Western Cross Country Championships, the College Sport Auckland Road Relays and free weekly Parkrun events around the country. In 2023 the Running Club will tackle the Auckland Round the Bays event.
Required Equipment: Decent running shoes, socks, and clothing (PE gear or similar).
Recommended equipment: Running hat, GPS watch, sunblock.
Fees: No cost for general training. Fees will apply to students participating in inter-school events.
