Coaches are valuable assets throughout the community, and at Glenfield College, we want to assist and support our coaches in as many ways as possible. The Coach Support Initiative (CSI) is a KiwiSport project to provide support and opportunities to school coaches to ensure development and retention from season to season. CSI enables schools to offer development strategies to enhance the delivery of sport at the school. By focusing on the coaching culture within Glenfield College, we hope coaches will feel supported and valued and therefore look forward to continuing coaching at the school.
Glenfield College implements the CSI project through the employment of a Coach Leader whose role is to support the coaches in a variety of ways, such as:
-
- Coach development
- Student Coach development
- Observations
- Resource sharing of best coaching practice
- Assistance with funding for coach education
- Recognition of coaches’ time and effort
.
The project wants to work with and around individual needs for the development of each coach.
