Ryley Tomkinson, Year 11, on what pride means to him:
What is pride? Pride to me is respecting the way you look, act, and talk. Whether it be your behaviour towards a team you’re facing in sport, or the way you wear your uniform. My softball team and I are going away to Hamilton in a week to compete at Nationals. We have a uniform to represent ourselves. If we don’t wear that uniform with pride and represent it well, what’s the point in wearing it at all? Pride is having good behaviour towards the teams we will face. Pride is representing your school by not being afraid to say “Hey, I’m from Glenfield College” because this school has many great achievements, and those achievements would haven’t been made possible if we didn’t take pride in what we were doing. So remember this, the next time you go away on a school trip or away on a sports day, or even on school grounds, always have a good attitude towards your friends and teachers and always wear your uniform with pride. You aren’t just representing the school, you’re representing yourselves.
