Glenfield Bollywood Dance Students will strut their stuff in YouDance, Auckland’s festival of youth dance, which takes place on June 4th, 7.30 pm. YouDance emphasises a positive, non-competitive environment of sharing and learning from peers. Glenfield students will share the stage with young people from One Step Beyond youth dance company, Takapuna Grammar, Diocesan College, Avondale College, Glenfield College, St Kentigern College, Massey High School and Western Springs College.

The youth dance festival is a chance for young dancers to show what they are capable of. “There

is some outstanding work being produced both in dance in secondary schools and youth dance

companies outside of school,” says artistic director Jacqui Cesan. “YouDance is an opportunity for

young people to share this artistic expression with a wider audience.”

YouDance is moving to the Maidment Theatre on the University of Auckland campus this year,

thanks to the generosity of Dance Studies there.

Students will be able to connect with the tertiary dance environment and see where dance leads

after school. At the same time their work will be valued in a professional theatre.
